Are IT jobs always this difficult to find?

My husband is currently in school to get his associates in IT/Networking. He also already has a job in the IT field as a network administrator for a school district. We just found out recently that he will be laid off at the end of the year because the school is in serious money trouble. We've both been looking around on job sites for another job for him. We've been looking for about a month and a half now, and haven't heard back from any of these people about the jobs. (not all of them are IT jobs) I'm starting to think it's because my husband has been "laid off" from every single job he's had. My husband has night blindness and can therefore only work the daylight hours, and is usually the first to go when it comes to layoff's. It's not until july that he gets let go from this current job, but I'm not sure where else to go and look for jobs. We've been everywhere online, and can't really find anything. We don't really have the gas money to drive around a look for another one. Help!

Getting laid off in IT is common.

Much of IT work is at night -- if his night blindness just means he can't drive at night, many IT jobs would be remote support at night (or all the time).

Unfortunately, there's not very strong demand if you are not in the right specialty.

He should be able to get a job next summer, just maybe not an ideal job, maybe not great pay.
Reply:In the right specialty? I was thinking of becoming a It in networking also. I thought it was full time, also what do you do for the school with a I.T in networking? Im worried about which degree in I.T to take.

Here is my 2 cents of advice. The first poster is right. Put a AD in the newspaper about services your husband offers, to fix pc's to build your own, technical help etc. What I would do ^^, I can do it, but no degree. Even tho I dont need one o.o hmmm....
Reply:Try opening your own IT buisness!
