Handling Two Jobs at once?

Hi everyone. Here's my situation with employment that I need your advice on. I was offered a job #1 over a month and a half ago. It's a fitness center that hasn't even opened yet. The opening date is this Friday. I needed money really bad so while I patiently waited for job #1, I got a second job, job #2. These are both part time jobs. Well Job #2 has been going great, I know i'll like it better than Job #1, and it's more in line with what I want to do in life. The problem is that Job #2 has given me a set schedule for the month of May, but job #1 is REQUIRING me to go to their fitness center opening night this thursday. But I work at job #2 that night. I would like to keep both jobs, even though I like job #2, but I'm afraid of losing job #1 if I tell my boss at that job about my other part time job. I asked my boss at job #2 if I could have the night off and she said to ask my co-worker to switch but he can't. So i'm really in a pickle. How should I handle this situation? Thanks!

Handling Two Jobs at once?
You like job #2. Don't jeopardize it.

Job #1 took too long and lost out on their chance of having you as an employee. Get a replacement job for job #1.
Reply:Be honest with job #1 and tell them you took another job while waiting for them and that you have to work at job #2 that night. If you really like job #2 then you have to risk losing job #1, you can always replace it with something else.

Did they really expect you to wait 6 weeks and do nothing? Probably not realistic.
Reply:You like Job #2 and can afford to keep just one PT job?

Tell Job #1 that you have to work - it really is unrealistic of them to expect you to have done nothing for 6 weeks!

If Job #1 falls through, find something else!

Best of luck!
