ok I have two possble jobs that i might be given the the choice to take
I am a volunteer firefighter
job A: the county i vol. in are hiring 4 positions, and if i appy i will probley get one of the jobs, the jobs have been posted for one week and i havent applied yet, its full time making good money for a firefighter
Job B: is for a part time firefighter in another county 30 mins south, making 9 bucks a hour which i have a interview for Jan the 9th
im going to college for a fire science degree and both jobs would work around me schedule at school
the problem is since im a volunteer with the job A county, ive seen and already know alot of the politics and nasty stuff that goes on in there and it scares me away from applying.
and working both jobs i think would not give me any free time,
so do i apply for job a, or not?
and what if i dont get job b? then im out of luck all around
Two possible jobs which one do i go for?
Go for job A, the full-time position. So long as they'll work around your school schedule, it should be OK. Its more $$; Internal politics is normal in any government agency job, whether its the fire department, police, county hospital, jail facility, etc... so if you say no to job A because of internal politics, you'll be disappointed later in job-B to find its just as bad, or worst.
Reply:Both sound boring.
Reply:Not necessarily, you could always reapply for job B. Persistance and determination are good qualities. I think you should choose according to your lifestyle and how you feel. Do you get nervous or tense when thinking about being employed at place A knowing all the politics involved? If so, then maybe you need something different. Just remember that there are politics everywhere in one form or another. You just have to be able to ignore it and do your job.
Reply:Take job A.
The devil you know is better than the one you haven't met.
