Data Entry Jobs?

I have a five month old baby and I do not want to leave her and go out to get a job. So I was wanting to work at home so I could stay home with her. But I just cannot find any jobs online. I have been looking for Data Entry jobs. Does any one know of any websites I could go to and find a Data Entry job? Or maybe another kind of job? I had once before tried the Survey job online, but that dont seem to be legit.

Data Entry Jobs?
I found one. I'm with Stayin Home and Lovin It! and they are partnered with a wellness company that is 21 years old and in good standing with the Better Business Buerau. There is no selling door to door, no big investment and no risk. It's not for everyone, but you can try it out without the risk of losing anything. No get rich quick thing, but it does have the potential to become a full income in a couple of months, all depends on you and how much time you want to invest in it. I have health problems so that is why I needed a work at home business. Many of the people I work with are stay at home moms. It has a great support team, free training and tips and constant support for you to succeed. If you would like more information please go to http://healthybetterme.com

Please be careful when looking for a work at home job. Most are scams. A great place to research a company in the U.S. is at http://search.bbb.org/

You call look up a company by it's name, address, or url and see how they stand with the Better Business Buerau and usually there is a brief description of what they do. Good luck!
Reply:Try this.....its not much but they really paid............http://dellion-hunter.blogspot... Report It

Reply:stayin home and lovin it is a mlm. you do have to sell. you sell the business to other people and make money off poor mothers who want the same thing. its selling products that are organic, which are good, but you have to buy into this. NOT something I enjoyed. I waisted 2 hours of my personal time Report It

Reply:Congratulations on the new baby!

A lot of data entry jobs are scams. They want you to pay to work for them. Work at home jobs are hard to find. Technical, phone work or writing jobs are the most common legit ones. You may want to check out some job leads at http://wahjobs.blogspot.com Plus there is a listing of companies that regularly hire telecommuters
Reply:Pinecone research, Surveysavvy, Greenfieldonline are some of the larger survey companies, who pay regularly . A list of companies you can join for free , with details of amounts you will receive as payment, is available at http://tinyurl.com/mx9ga
Reply:I was just reading your post and was thinking to myself...I completely understand! I too am wanting to make some extra money to help with finances because of the job I'm with now...not great pay! :(

I was actually looking at the Dallas Morning News looking for a job over in Dallas, because we're about to relocate back to TX and noticed an ad for AmeriPlan. I called the number on the posting, who is now my sponsor, and she gave me a lot of helpful information about this company. What they do is provide memberships to their Dental, Vision, RX, and Chiropractic networks to provide the end user NICE discounts on these medical services. Its nice if the family's breadwinner is either self employed or doesn't have these types of benefits available to them. OR...and this is the reason I am writing you today is the way to make more money is actually Recruit more Brokers to work with you to sell these memberships as well to build a nice residual income on top of your commissions for selling these memberships. If you would like more information...check out my website: www.iboplus.com/shannonmoore

Being completely up front and honest here...there is a $50/mo Broker fee you do have to pay. But, with that fee...you get access to their endless training, sales leads, sales kit to get you started and more information about health benefits so you are knowledgeable in your product. I do understand that the $50/mo deal is a turn off to a lot of people, but I figure you do have to spend some money to make money and they take the $50/mo out of your commission checks so it doesn't hurt you too badly.

Check it out sometimes and follow the links if you're interested! Honestly, I am NOT the person that normally does this type of thing..but I am very unhappy at my job and NEED to be able to vent my creative strengths somewhere in a more positive direction! I just started doing this yesterday and I am looking forward to being very successful!

What jobs can a felon get? Particularly a DUI or drug charge?

I'm working as a substance abuse counselor and I'm going to do a project with my clients where I teach them some job skills and hopefully help them look for a job.

I was wondering what kind of jobs a felon can get, particularly if they have a DUI or drug posession charges(some may have 1 DUI or drug charge, others may have more, I'm not really sure). And also, is it even possible for them to get a job other then at McDonalds, etc? They're all drug addicts and many are on probabtion and recieve frequent drug tests that come up clean (if they don't come up clean they get kicked out of our program). We're in FL and my clients are teens to 50-somethings. Please be more specific then just "being honest" that's only step 1, I'm looking for actual job options here. Thanks.

As another person answered, contacting the United Way would be a good place to start. If you happened to be located in Central Florida you can use 211 to access this information. Also I happen to work for Publix Supermarkets (which is located all over Florida) and I know that you can be hired and promoted into management with convictions. Granted, people are usually started at the bottom and work their way up, but Publix pays fair wages and the opportunity to advance is great. (Infact in my store alone we had 3 managers that had DUI convictions in the past year and they not only kept their jobs but are still considered for promotion, however they were able to get to and from work on time every day either relying on rides from others or bicycling to work.) If a new associate shows that they are a good worker and are motivated to advance they will have no problem getting promoted. Publix not only offers a fair wage they also offer an excellent benefits package, health insurance, 401 K, profit sharing, and a laundry list of other great benefits.

I know it might sound a little "cheesy" to work at a supermarket but Publix does offer a lot of training and opportunities for thoes who are willing to work for it. Also be sure to let them know Publix has a zero tolerance policy for drug use... They will be required to take a pre employment drug screening test as well as be required to take random tests as requested. If you are interesed in any more information look up the Publix website and they are free to go to any Publix and apply at the kiosk, their application will be active for 30 days, and they will have to update it thereafter. Remember the very busy holiday season is coming up and Publix will be looking to do alot of hiring now. I hope this info was helpful for you and thanks for doing such a great service for our community. Good Luck! :)
Reply:I would suggest asking the local state employment office in your area. They must have to deal with this all the time.

Side Jobs?

Hi,

well i was just wondering if anyone knew of any decent side jobs that may be available in the toronto area. for example i almost got in to this newspaper delivery thing that payed $1000 a month only thing was it meant i had to deliver at 3am which for a student isnt really a good thing so i decided i couldnt do it.

I was just wondering if anyone has done anything in the past with that same idea. something i can do along side my part time job, school, and soccer. a second part time job wont work for me because the availablility me current one requires me to work doesnt allow me much time for another job.

something like an internet job would be ideal for me

Check out cashoutu.com. Its pretty easy and you can do it whenever you want.

Why are certain jobs looked down upon by so many people?

For example, a job bagging groceries and bringing shopping carts in, although it does not pay much, gives plenty of opportunity for good exercise, for helping people, for socializing, and for good, honest hard work. However, even though many people are unable to handle such a job for any length of time, and even though it requires much effort and hard work, many people still look "down" on such a job. The same is true with, for example, restaurant jobs.

So, are people just jealous that they can't handle such a job, or what? I know many restaurant workers and grocery baggers are not very good workers and can even be quite lazy, but I am talking about those that actually do work hard at such jobs (not the lazy ones, but the hard workers). Why are they still looked "down" as if everyone else is better than them even though they work hard and do good work in such jobs?

Why are certain jobs looked down upon by so many people?
I see what you mean. I think blue collar men are the sexiest and manliest myself. I dont like metrosexual primadonnas. The blue collar man is where its at. It is looked down upon until one of these snoots need to actually do the work themselves, then they will have all the respect in the world. Nothing better than to see a man or woman taking on such a job to support thier kids not worrying about their image. These are the truly strong people of our world and need much respect. God Bless them and you.
Reply:Thank you for addressing this issue which I have thought about myself. I even say the people doing the dirty jobs should be paid double what the people sitting in their office chairs do. It seems so unfair. Manual Labor should be paid the most. Report It

Reply:Because our society is composed of shallow creeps for the most part.

Personally, I applaud the efforts of someone who would go through a day of hard work to support themselves. It sure beats going through welfare like a lot of scumbags do.
Reply:No one should look down on a person because of his job. What would happen if we didn't have grocery baggers? Or barbers? Or garbage collectors? Each job has a vital role to play in our society. Without these people our lives would be one hell of a mess.

People look down on these jobs because of ignorance and biases. They should, instead, look down on people who don't want to accept these jobs even though they are jobless.

Peace and blessings!

What jobs should i do to make good money in Marines?

did pretty good on the asvab test and just want to no what jobs i could do to make like 50 to 100k a year in the Marines and in a civilian job, i want to take law enforcement classes in college so i can be a Homicide detective and be on the SWAT team but i am pretty sure that job selection does not make that good of a living so i guess i am going to have to do a job that i don't want to do..... any job ideas what i could do in the Marines that would benefit me in the civilian world that could help me make any where from 50 to 100k or higher

What jobs should i do to make good money in Marines?
First of all, I think you should not work for the money! My ideal is to do that job what i really love doing. There's gotta be some work what nobody else can do the way you do it. Then you can have all sorts of success in it. But it depends on you to find out that perfect job what you must do to be completely fulfilled. Until you find out the job that your soul is specially equipped to do you would not find true fulfillment
Reply:.To make 50k in the marines, try being an

E-9 with 10 years service.
Reply:Finance, Admin, Intelligence, Aircraft Electronics dude, Aircraft Mechanic dude.
Reply:I think you are in for the wrong reasons. We have people in the Service who want to be their, not only for themselves, but for their country. Not people who want to milk it. We need dedicated people in our military not people who just want money. You should look out for yourself and plan for the future, but it seems like your already set on that one thing. Hopefully San Diego or Paris Island will hook you up with some real pride, honor, and commitment and service to your country not just yourself.
Reply:your not gonna make that kind of money being an enlisted man in the military for about 10 years or more.....check the pay charts, as far as it preparing you for a job in the civilian world that pays that much look around before you pick your job and figure out what you want to do when you get out and pick something in that field.......but you really shouldnt join the military for the pay, if you do first of all you probably wont make it......and secondly you will be sadly disappointed when those $500 paychecks start rolling in every 2 weeks.
Reply:6694 Aviation Information System Technician. You establish and maintain computer networks for the DOD system. You work with fiber optics, cat 5, NICs and much more. Plenty of application outside of the military (its actually the fasted growing field) and even with civilian contractors to the militar.
Reply:You're not going to make "good money" in any branch of the military. This country may be good at saying "we support the troops", but we're not good at actually doing that.

You say you're interested in law enforcement. My son is a Marine MP and is interested in staying in law enforcement when his enlistment time is up. Police officers don't ususally get paid much, either, so he decided against that. (We don't seem to do a good job supporting any of those we rely on in emergency situations.) He's finding there are great job opportunities for a former Marine MP who wants to do security work for large corporations. The pay scale for that kind of work is in the range you're looking for.

I hope this helps. Just be sure your ready for the intese rigors of Marine Corps life. It isn't easy, but it will give you some of the best preparation for the kind of work you say you want to do.
Reply:Aircraft maintentance, diesel mechanic.

Hoo-Rah gets harder as you get older.
Reply:To 'make good money in Marines', 'like 50 to 100k a year in the Marines', you should not enlist at all. You should get yourself off to college, study, and look for civilian employment.

You should not enlist, your reason has nothing to do with duty and honor, only money.

Are there any jobs in the military involving astronomy or meteorology?

i was just wondering, because i've always thought of going in the military, (considering how many of my relatives are in)and i was wondering if there are any astronomy related jobs in the military. i love astronomy, AND meteorology (i know there are some meteorology jobs in the air force) and if you know any, will you please list them? i don't think there are many, if any astronomy jobs, but im just curious. So if you know ANY military jobs that have to do with meteorology or astronomy, please list them. oh, and by meteorology jobs i don't mean like weather girl jobs...i mean like flying into the center of hurricanes to take pictures of the eye jobs. :)

Are there any jobs in the military involving astronomy or meteorology?
There are many that involve metorology and astronomy both. A few that come to mind are in navigation, artillary, and intelligence. All three are reliant on knowing what the weather will be. Many navy ships in most countires still use astronomical navigation as a way back-up and double check thier GPS systems. If you are in the artillary, weather affects the trajectory of the shell. Also I have seen instances where magnetic and GPS readings were rendered useless due to magnetic interference (this was above the artic circle). Star readings were used to aim with great effectiveness.

Weather is a very important factor in planning any military operation and you will see that most major militaries devote no small amount of resources into knowing and predicting weather patterns.
Reply:My step son recently joined the Navy as an Aerographer's Mate. He will be learning meteorology and also learning to maintain the equipment that a meterologist uses.
Reply:Yes, there are many jobs in those fields. And there quite needed at the time.
Reply:Yes we have our own weather people. they give area reports for airsupport and conditions for training and missions.

What are "The Jobs which British people won't do"?

I keep hearing about these jobs as a reason why we "need" immigrants.

I live in a fairly poor area and I know a lot of unemployed white British people who would be happy to do ANY job. But whenever they apply for a job here are always lots of other applicants and they don't get chosen.

I have seen people - well qualified people, being turned down for jobs which are actually BELOW their qualification levels - in fact I'm one of them! My boyfriend - a trained mechanic who can't get work as a mechanic as there are not enough jobs - even got turned down for a car valeting job because the interviewer just liked someone else more or decided they were more suitable. I have no idea. It was through no fault of his own!

So I really don't beleive these "jobs noone else wants" exist and they are just a figment of the Left's imagination to justify the rampant immigration. As far as I know the only time we had this sort of full employment was back in the 1950s.

What are "The Jobs which British people won't do"?
If that really is a question being asked, that's really funny because that's the same crap being tried over here in the US.

Ah playbook politics at it's finest.
Reply:cleaning toilets?
Reply:Ah, good question. Therefore, two interesting ideas have just risen from my head...

In response to your comments about the unemployment problem since the 1950s - more jobs were available during the 1950s, as machinery, including computers, was not so widely available. However, when machines were made to do jobs that humans could, they replaced people with machinery since they were more economical! As a result, more people could not gain a job since machines, including computers, were used an alternative.

"Jobs that no-one else wants"...? Well, that's down to personal opinion, rather than choice. It depends on the person's background, opinions, wants/needs, experience(s) and qualifications.
Reply:The left???? Get real, the UK has a right-wing government. And half of our immigration woes are due to EU laws allowing free migration between member states.
Reply:immigrants will do jobs for less money ie cleaning a toilet

uk resedent charges £25

SO WHO WOULD YOU RATHER EMPLOYE
Reply:Sh it shovelling
Reply:Britains like to earn from their bed, that's why over 1 million Polish are doing our jobs and then we have the nerve to whinge.
Reply:Cat_the_aussie, you have obviously not been to britain - whilst Scotland has the worst dental records in Europe britain as a whole does not. The plumbing industry is paid extremely well and there are many plumbers. Also i dont know how the rumour was created about brits not bathing but thats b*ll too.

With regards to the question, there arent any jobs we wont do provided we get fair pay.
Reply:Ladymoonlight, the last time I checked it was Eastern Europeans- mainly Poles - taking a lot of the jobs the English 'might' have taken! Are you insinuating that Eastern Europeans are 'not white' and only 'white' English people are 'white'?

I agree that their is too much immigration here but there are also far too many English-born and able-bodied people of different ethnic backgrounds who spend too much time scrounging off of the benefits system who should be made to work!

Benefits should ONLY be for people who are very young, elderly, mentally or physically disabled or those who have been laid off through no fault of their own and need assistance in getting re-employed, especially in areas of limited employment. Benefits should also ONLY be for people who have been working continuously here for a year or more - not for people 'just off the boat.'
Reply:I totally agree. I believe there is a core of employers who use the CBI, the Confederation of British Industry, as a mouthpiece to bleat out this tired rationalisation.

This is all the excuse they need to justify the employers hiring virtual slave labour from abroad and treating them like beasts of burden.

It's not fair on us Brits - but trust me on this, it's even less fair on the immigrants, who are forced to live in the sort of living conditions that you wouldn't see dogs living in.

Of course we Brits wouldn't take on such jobs. We'd probably be a hell of a lot more savvy, and demand (a) the minimum wage at least; (b) working conditions that have a greater survival rate than 25%.

Otherwise, were it not for these gangmasters using the CBI like this, I don't believe there'd be anything we wouldn't touch.
Reply:Can i make a suggestion, move house to an area with more prospects or be prepared to travel further to work.

I almost guarantee you'll be working in no time.

cat the aussie - there is plenty of money to be made in the UK plumbing industry, do you not read the newspapers?
Reply:Jobs _______ (insert majority) people won't do are typically low skill, labor intensive jobs that SHOULD be paid high for the work being done, but that non-majority people, out of necessity, tend to do for a lot less money. It isn't that the majority WON'T do the jobs, its that the wealthy, who own the means of production would rather have you believe so that you believe society would collapse without the work of immigrants, when in reality it would just be their pocketbooks, having to pay a fair market value for the services provided.

And on that note, its neither a left nor right issue. In the United States, particularly California, it is the conservative Republican party that favors immigration for these reasons.
Reply:It is a fabrication by the government machine to justify bringing immigrants into the country, not for charity, but for cheap labour.

Incidentally, the Tory government in the mid fifties carried out the same policy and used the same excuse.

The jobs no one applies for are usually in the service industry which has always been notorious for low pay and poor conditions.

One way to combat this policy is to spread the word to the immigrant workers that they are being exploited and also boycott any business that you find paying poverty wages.

There are thousands of post graduates and highly qualified people who are either unemployed or working for the minimum wage, but just peruse the company profits!

I was sitting with my landlord and handyman on day (we are all Americans). It had just so happened that we had all worked in the food processing business and had all worked at the same factory but at different times. British people are not the only ones who won't do this work, you can include lots of other white races. The anglo saxon is not built to do the work, how long do you think a TALL white British, german or swedes BACK would last bending over and lifting crates full of produce?? Britain and many other European nations diet was never based on agriculture in the past, hence the beef consumption. Why should these nations start now? You say these jobs don't exist well how do you think produce gets on your grocery shelves? If your boyfriend would like a real back breaking job he's more then welcome to come to the states and pick agriculture, the only Americans who tried this work were the Oakies during the depression era, and they didn't last long.
Reply:They probably didn´t want to employ your boyfriend because they feared that he wouldnt stay because you wóuld become bored and seek something more suited to his talents. And, generally, managers dislike having subordinates who are brighter or more intelligent then they are.

The best jobs and most needed right now in the airforce?

so, i am joining the airforce. pretty excited about it!!!! YAY! I am finally following my heart and doing something for myself! Anyway, Im just wondering what jobs are most needed right now. I prefer a health care job, but Im not sure if they are so much needed. My husband is also active duyt airforce, so i really want a flexible job that will be easier to get me staioned with him here where i am now! Do you have any suggestions? Also, is there any way that I could get lets say Macdill AFB and a guaranteed job here? Im pretty sure about the job, but Im sure the base this is a no! LOL! I see adds for certain jobs like " airforce nurses needed", and I wasnt sure if that meant you got to be stationed here or not since its in this paper here. But, Im dreaming..I know it!

Thanks in advance!

The best jobs and most needed right now in the airforce?
Honestly, you could probably get the best low down from your hubby. Good luck getting Medical. It takes a special recruiter as most medical positions are pretty overmanned (believe it or not). The AFI's are changing for AF manning so I can't speak for anytime down the road but Explosive Ordinance Disposal is in need (with a signing bonus too). Pararescue, Combat Controlled, AF Special Forces is always in need. If you want maximum flexibilty for being stationed with your hubby I would go Security Forces, Personnelist, or Services Specialist (Cook, Fitness Center, Loding, etc.) AFSC (Job Code) is a pretty easy one to get guaranteed, however, the base one might be a little more difficult. Being Mil-to-Mil married, you will probably start off at your husbands home base right now until yout put in for a Joint Spouse Assignment. I know every few years the Air Force releases the NECP (Nurse Enlisted Comissioning Program). There are a few prerequesits but it can be done after 3-4 years. Good Luck in your venture and I hope this information helps.
Reply:Sorry, but I don't think you will be able to get a medical job. They are very hard to get in the Air Force. As far as where you will be stationed, it is the needs of the service. You can request a base, but there are no guarantees. You go where they need people.
Reply:Wow. As far as I know you have to be a nurse or go to college while you're in to be a nurse, they don't train you. From what I've heard they are really looking for Airborne Cryptologic Linguists. I'm going to be a Ground Cryptologic Linguist and while my bonuses aren't as big my sign on bonus is still $12,000. Airborne is pretty demanding from what I've heard though.

You know, I have a successful home based on line business, but just for fun I like to post questions to see what people will say. Go ahead take a look at my Answers and Questions. The thing that gets me is that people seem to think nothing is possible, if that's your mentality, then I recommend applying for a regular job. Being in business for yourself requires your time, effort, and money to get going, but it also requires the proper mindset! As far as "jobs" from home, your choices are limited, regardless of what you'll hear, taking surveys etc. only pays $5 or so, and a lot are scams. You can develop your own on line income if you are determined enough to learn how.

If getting a job really involves so much, then how is it that OTHER people have jobs, yet I always..10 points!

I just turned 22 and am supposed to graduate from college in May. I have ALWAYS had trouble getting a job, because I walk in looking/acting professionally and apply for jobs, even include my resume, but then they never call me about a job. I went to the campus carreer center and they reccomended that I try to follow up on my applications, which I have done, but all I ever hear is that the employer will call me if they "want to hire me"8-| And yet despite this EVERYONE else in one of my classes at this college seems to have a job and think nothing of it, like it is that easy to just get a job. And believe me when I say that their work ethic is a MILLION times lower than mine, and they dress or act professionally. So how is it that all of these people got a job despite CLEARLY being less motivated than me and not dressing or acting professionally?

If getting a job really involves so much, then how is it that OTHER people have jobs, yet I always..10 points!
I only read about half of your post, and in my opinion it sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder. I'm sorry you may have a hard time finding a job, but I see a common factor.....rejection. That is telling me that you need to change something on your end. Confidence is good, but overconfidence and showing it is bad. It's all in the presentation of yourself and what you bring to the table.
Reply:Follow up with employers. If they aren't hiring now, maybe they will be next month.

Should We Export Our Jobs or Import Workers To Do Them?

American workers are being fired because companies are exporting their jobs overseas. American workers are also being fired because many of our politicians are encouraging low wage, and often illegal, immigrants to come here and take their jobs away from them. The politicians who support the “open borders” that cause American workers to lose their jobs to illegal immigrants are often the very same ones who condemn the companies that cause American workers to lose their jobs by exporting them.

Do America’s former workers who are trying to make ends meet on temporary unemployment benefits really care if they lost their jobs because the jobs went overseas or if they lost their jobs because foreign workers came here to take them?

If Bush, McCain, Kennedy and other politicians of their ilk succeed in passing their so-called comprehensive immigration reform legislation, how do America’s unemployed former workers benefit?

If we grant legal status to illegal immigrants, does that save “American” jobs? If so, isn’t that kind of like decriminalizing murder to reduce crimes of violence?

Should We Export Our Jobs or Import Workers To Do Them?
The jobs illegal immigrants do are unskilled jobs that can't be outsourced off shore. For instance, food, lodging and construction industries. What many don't realize is that the U.S. already has enough of an uneducated unskilled citizen underclass that for the most part are willing to perform the jobs illegal aliens take. The problem is illegal aliens by and large know where these jobs are because they are well networked with the help of La Raza, the Catholic Church, and the backing ot the Mexican government. Our cititzen underclass is not networked at all.

In some cases, the U.S. underclass citizen worker might require 2 or 3 dollars an hour more to do the same job illegals now perform but since the average illegal alien in the U.S. costs taxpayers an average of at least $10,000 annually, the feds should consider subsidizing the difference if necessary. This would create a win-win situation because the subsidy won't be as much as the welfare dollars these citizens are currently sucking up.

The newly unemployed illegal alien can go back to their country, or work in a chain gang. There is no reason to grant legal status to illegal immigrants from a taxpayers point of view. Only from a greedy businessman's point of view. (Taxpayers be damned)
Reply:Neither. Hire people within the US to do the jobs. Keep it in the States.
Reply:How can housekeeping, lawn care, and lettuce picking be outsourced to other countries? Most of the jobs are staying where they are. The American workers are simply being undercut by illegal labor. It's called supply and demand. It will happen in any free market economy. The system can only function the way it is supposed to if companies are held accountable for only hiring legal labor. If that means to outsource, so be it. That's the nature of the beast. Unskilled American workers can either take the lower paying jobs or learn a skill or trade in order to earn a higher paying job. As long as illegal labor is allowed to persist, the only Americans who will be able to survive in the job market are the ones who are competing for higher skilled jobs that illegal immigrants are unable to obtain even with the temptation of low salary pay.

If we were actually able to tighten border security enough to keep illegal aliens out, we would also be keeping out many other parts of the black market (drugs, guns, sex slaves, etc.). There's too many people in power who are being paid handsomely to look the other way as all of these transactions occur. Illegal labor is just the most obvious of these because you see them standing on the street corners every day dangling their crimes in your face.

I'm all about finding a solution, but I know it doesn't involve punishing or rewarding the people who have already crossed the border. I am thinking it involves some enforced accountability and responsibility from U.S. employers. Remove the incentive, and the problem will fix itself without too much more intervention.
Reply:You ask the question as if you imagine that the decision is up to the US government, or to the American people.

The corporations make the decision. They are profit-driven, and patriotism or concern for fellow citizens is not high on the corporate agenda.

To be fair, IT professionals will do a job for USD 7K in India, where American IT professionals will want USD 70K for work of the same standard. What would you want if you owned a lot of shares in a computer company?

Factory work is even more glaring. People work for peanuts in China and Indonesia. Furthermore, workers in those places tend to be a lot more compliant, and there is no talk of raises or unions or complaining about health and safety issues.

I know what you are saying, but there is two things for Americans (or anyone else) to do in order to protect themselves and their nation from globalization.

1. Figure out what you can do faster better and cheaper than anyone else in the world.

2. Do it.
Reply:there was a show on tv the company was going to move to mexico but didnt because the people they planned on hiring are already here
Reply:The jobs being exported and the jobs being imported are completely different.

1) Jobs being exported are often manufacturing jobs or IT jobs. The manufacturing labor is cheaper outside of the country then inside. IT "products" are just a few seconds away.

2) Jobs being taken by illegal immigrants are typically jobs that cannot be exported. ie. waiter/waitress. Additionally, many of these jobs involve farming where a good portion of America are farmers. India/China are very likely to start exporting wheat/corn because of their high population and lack of arable land.
Reply:Neither is required. All we need to do is do away with ALL gov give away programs to the lazy. Those folks can do the work that the illegals now do.
Reply:If you make the claim that we need ILLEGAL workers because they are "cheap labor" and American citizens and LEGAL IMMIGRANTS won't do the work for the wages they do, then it makes no sense to let them stay or make them legal, because they will then demand AND RECEIVE a fair wage and benefits from the corrupt employers that hired them in the first place.

Then you "need" more...because, in reality, the corrupt employers will WANT more illegals to exploit. It's a vicious cycle. They don't WANT to pay a fair wage and benefits to citizens and legal immigrants if they can get away with paying less to illegal criminal aliens.

The only solution is enforcement of our laws. Prosecute these corrupt employers to the extent of the law, deport illegal aliens and secure our borders.
Reply:Neither. Keep American jobs in America for American workers.
Reply:Neither, keep them here and start complaining (don't buy) their products. Also call your elected politicians daily.. This is why the jobs are going abroad. Big business and politicians are CONTROLLING you, not to mention the media

Listing jobs on resume question?

I have had a job or two that I would like to put on my resume because it shows that I have applicable skills to a job that I want to apply for. However these were under the table jobs, could I list these jobs or leave them out? Would they think I am lying since these jobs won't appear on my work history?

Listing jobs on resume question?
You should list these jobs on your application. Only mention they were under the table jobs if you're ask, then explain why you were working under the table. The most important aspect of interviewing is being honest even when it doesn't make you look as good as you'd hope.

Resume questions- listing jobs?

Hi, I am helping my brother work on his resume. He graduated college in 2000 and since then has had a new job about once a year. Most of the jobs he's held have been relevant to the new job he wants to apply for. So, do I list all of the past jobs on his resume?

And, if I leave a job out, does that look weird to have gaps in time where it looks like he didn't hold a job?

So basically my question is...how do you organize a resume to include multiple jobs? He will have about 8 listed...is that too many?

Resume questions- listing jobs?
.../findingajob/resumes/a2004-06-07-func... - look up functional resumes. it will have all the infor you need to compete
Reply:The best bet may be to find a resume template somewhere on the internet and follow the outline. I'd say that, as a best practice, you should list the last 3 or 4 jobs. If there are any large gaps, you should be prepared to answer questions about why there is an employment gap, but I wouldn't recommend leaving a job off. If they make you an offer, they will probably find the missing information in background check anyway.

As an aside, there a ton of sites out there that offer free resume templates. I know that Microsoft Office Online and other sites, such as http://www.inknowvation.net/, have a ton of freely available templates.
Reply:List the last 3 and then in a seprate place list the duties that the unlisted jobs might have had that are revelvant to the job you are tyring to get.

As far as gaps in the work history all you need to do is be honest at the interview..
Reply:You probably only want to list the 3-4 most recent jobs with full details. For the others, you can group them together and say something along the lines of "experience available upon request" as the sub-heading. That means they're on there, but it'll make the resume easier on the eyes.

Also, make sure he's prepared to show that he's reliable in an interview. That will appear to be a weakness for people that hire and interview. As someone who's hired and recruited, 8 jobs in 8 years is a HUGE red flag for me if I'm looking for a long-term employee.

Reply:Yes that is too many. I have experience in creating resume's and will try to explain what a employer is looking for in a good resume'. First of all, a resume' is "Not" an application. A resume' is, or should be, a cross section of the person it represents. It should contain Name, address, telephone, etc, etc. Then the position that you are applying for. Then where you would like to be in that company in five years or more. Then schooling, and years of experience. (Not a list of Jobs) That is for the application that you will be filling out later, if you are called for an interview. Executives don't have a lot of time to read long, drawn out resume's. Entice them with interesting facts. Wish I could help you more. By the way, All of the people I helped, got the position.

Dental Jobs?

ok,so i havent completely made up my mind, i pretty much would like to have any job in the Dental Fields area.

who generally gets payed more?

-Dentists?

-Orthodontists?

-Oral/Maxillofacial Surgeons?

-Cosmetic Dentists?

-or any other type of job in the Dental Fields I've missed that is running my own practice like the ones i listed above?

i dont know yet,i think i want to be a Orthodontist, but i want a job where i get a lot more money from it in the Dental Jobs, but i dont want too much schooling! it already takes about 8-9 years of college to be an Orthodontist, so a Dental Job that would get payed more but require less or the same amount of schooling time, I live along the pacific coast in Southern California and want to stay living here while i have a career. so i wanna make a lot of money. since everything, including homes are very indeed expensive nowadays here.

Dental Jobs?
You've gotten some pretty good advice from the other posters. Remember that dental school is very expensive--tuition is about 10X what it was when I went to school in the 1970's. Then, if you're going to open up your own practice, it can cost a few hundred thousand to build an office, even if there's no real estate involved. So you can be in an enormous financial hole before you see your first patient.

The particular practice setting and dynamics of your particular dental practice will help determine income. Location and clientele are important, and obviously your competence level. But personality and service are probably the most important of all. While it's true that cosmetic dentistry is not covered by insurance and therefore insurance companies cannot influence fees, your market will. Also, any dentist can (and most do) cosmetic dentistry--it is NOT a specialty (though there are plenty of continuing ed courses out there).

Since it appears you are at the very beginning of the process, why not try to find out what you can about general dentistry. There is plenty of time to decide whether or not to specialize later on.

Good luck,

Steve Bornfeld, DDS
Reply:Which would you enjoy more? The driving factor should NOT be money. If you "don't want too much schooling", then why do you want to be a dentist? Becoming one is harder than you imagine. If you're just in it for the money, then I feel bad for your future patients.

Pick something you want to do because you like it...not just because you'll make a lot of money.
Reply:Based on my limited knowledge I would say Cosmetic Dentist. They help to reshape and contour the face but they don't rely strictly on referrals like the other specialties you listed. One of my relatives lives on the east coast. He is a Cosmetic Dentist and he's only been working for about 5 or 6 years and already had purchased a massive 22 foot Grady White fishing boat, a drop dead gorgeous house on the water, and a $80,000 Porsche.

The way it works in my area the dentists usually have one "go-to" dentist that they will use for Ortho. For my boss we refer all our pts to Dr Thodus. That's it. If you were in my area you wouldn't get any of our business because we already have an established relationship with Dr Thodus. In the other office I worked in we used Dr Wong. If you want to specialize in Ortho you better be damn good at relationships because it's necessary for survival.

Btw - if your decision is based on money you're doing it for the wrong reason. All the above dental fields that you listed above are very very good paying jobs. I would take any of the above, but if you wanted the most bang for the buck, cosmetic would be the way to go - especially in SoCal.

What jobs can I get currently without a High School Diploma?

Currently, I have returned to finish my high school education (not the GED) and I currently have a part-time job at the "Panera Bread" cafe/resteraunt - but lately, I have been trying to find another profession with better pay. Unfortunately, being as of yet, without a high school diploma - I'm unable to sign up for jobs that require it. I have tried to look for jobs in the usual expected places - i.e - working as a cashier, customer service, etc - but they usually are snapped up by people younger than me (I'm 23 years old, btw). At the moment, I cannot think of any jobs that I could do at my age, but would have (even a little) better pay than the one I currently have. If anyone has any tips as to what other jobs I could try, I would be grateful.

What jobs can I get currently without a High School Diploma?
Congratulations on going back to complete your high school education. Unfortunately, you are very, very limited as to what you can do without a high school diploma and are probably doing the type of work that you can get. I don't think there is much else you can do until you get your diploma. Even then, your options will be limited.

Hang in there.

About temp jobs?

I have some questions about temp jobs?

1. Do you get benefits with tmep jobs?

2. Are the temp jobs full time or part time?

3. Do temp jobs become perment job after while?

4.Do temps jobs help built a resume and gain experience?

About temp jobs?
1. Depends on the temp company. But usually, the answer is yes, after completing a certain amount of worked hours as a temp within their company. They usually let you know how many hours you need or just mail you the information once you have reached the specified amount of work hours.

2.both, depending on what you tell them you are looking for. unless you are assigned work with mostly one company, you usually will have a combination of both depending on what assignments come up.

3. if the company you were assigned to thinks u did a good job and wants to hire you, yes. thats usually how temps get a permanent position.

4. of course, it especially shows you are reliable and flexible, especially if you end up hired by one of the places you worked for.
Reply:1. benefits with a temp company may come a while after you start, but your goal should be to temp to then become a permananet hire.

2. both

3. dependens on the company needs and if you are what they are looking for. think of it as a try out.

4. experience and resume yes.

Hi Rachel,

You are right that a lot of the online jobs are scams. You have to be extra careful who you listen to.

Firstly before working online you really need to learn how to market, you will get the offers that say you don't need any knowledge of the internet and that they will provide you with your own site etc but you still need to know how to market, how to drive traffic to your website.

By far the best learning resource for Internet Marketing is run by two college graduates that provide all the training you need.

Internet marketing can be a very rewarding and lucrative business if you first learn to do it right.

I have worked Online for 2 years and got my start in affiliate marketing (or 'Online marketing). This was a while back. It took me forever to decide what I wanted to do in affiliate marketing. I finally decided to do websites that review other people's products. I, of course, get a commission. Well, it takes a while to build traffic for your website. My point? If you need money now, Online marketing is not the way to go. It is a great career for the future, but most people don't start making good money for at least a year. Sad, but true! (Also, don't advertise on Google...it is very expensive.)

To make ends meet now, I started with a company called AmeriPlan. We do 'healthcare savings'. I loooove it. I can be creative and be my own boss. Wonder what it is? Check out the site above and look around. Request an interview and I will be happy to phone you and answer your questions! (We do get paid every day and get residual income.)

Good luck in whatever you choose. You have to look hard but great opportunities are out there! :-)

Spanish needed? - Jobs in Montreal?

Hey I'm thinking of moving to Montreal in spring 2008. I have a few friends living there as well as my sister. I am bilingual but my second language is Spanish, NOT French. I was wondering what my job options are (High school graduate) or if there are jobs that look for spanish speakers.

The jobs I've heard of for english speakers are a typing job for the deaf and a call center job.

Anything would help...English job options too. Thank you, Merci... gracias :)

Spanish needed? - Jobs in Montreal?
Spanish speakers not so much as far as unilingual English speakers there is not to much options, call centers who hire only English speakers, hmmm, perhaps as a nanny, working in a hotel as a maid although even that is iffy. Try areas of Westmount, N.D.G and Montreal West and Cote St. Luc. Might try the West Island too. Perhaps factory work. Sorry, not to many options wish I could think of more!
Reply:I arrivede this year but I only speak Spanish and English and I could say that most all the jobs require french speakers.NOw, i have no job. It's better to start with the french or look for other places where only English is necessary. Good luck! Report It

Reply:You will be considered unilingual. Spanish isn't a requirement for most jobs. French is absolutely necessary in all jobs dealing with the public. Call centers might consider you but French and English is a basic requirement. Sometimes they ask for perfectly bilingual which is French and English + Spanish but it's rare.
Reply:I don't say you will use Spanish very much in Montreal. This city is largely french with english as second language followed by a multitude of other languages/dialects.

There is a small spanish community but jobs in spanish are probably non existant.

You should have no problems with an English job although any jobs dealing with the public will require fluent french.

There is such thing as a language law and believe it or not a "language police" but don't let that deter you from moving, Montreal is a vibrant community and I am sure you would fit right in. If you have learned spanish it is only a small jump to french. You should have no problem learning the basics.

Good luck / Bonne chance
Reply:Hola. Not that many.. I was there for a while and i could not apply to a better job because my french was not good enough.

There are areas of the city like Westmount where english is mainly spoken and you might have more chances to get a job there.

Good Summer Jobs that providing housing?? 17yrs old?

i'll be 17 in may, and want/need a summer job. i perfer one away from home, but that means this job would have to have housing provided for its employees. any sugestions?

I live in Connecticut so north east is prefered but location isnt the most important thing

some detail about me::

I am an extremely hard worker and am willing to do a variety of jobs. I would be able to work from late June to mid-August.

My previous jobs include working at a local creamery in my town, both as a server and cashier. That job taught me patience, dedication and the ability to please customers.

I am lively and outgoing. i love being outdoors and the BEACH!! but i dont mind being inside either. whatever brings in the money. i looked at camps but i couldnt find any good ones where i could work most had to be 18/in college.

so if anyone knows a place/job that provides housing for it's seasonal employees, thatd be great!!

Reply:Haha, I'm looking for the same thing, sort of.

Basically, summer camps are a good bet if you can stand spending your summer around kids 24/7, I'd keep looking.

Try looking into working at a hotel/hostel/retreat center/resort in the place you want to go. You might be a little young to find much, but I bet if you looked hard enough you could.
Reply:The places that provide housing generally include camp counselors, foster care aides (at children's facilities), apartment managers, those "u store it" managers (since 7x24 access is required).
Reply:check out Yellowstone National Park or Teton National Park. They have great summer jobs and provide housing. If you don't want to travel so far, check out national parks in your area.

Why do jobs discriminate against people with misdemeanors?

I know that jobs usually say "if you have a felony we cant hire you" but why have they started discriminating against people with misdemeanors? A friend of mine got into a fight with a man who was stalking his wife, he was charged with 1 felony and 2 misdemeanors but they were later dropped to 2 misdemeanors, and no felony charges were filed. He was sentenced to 2 years probation, from 2004 to 2006 and no jail time. He completed his probation and his lawyer said that since it was his first offense he wouldnt have any criminal history and it would be wiped clean. Well here recently he was laid off of his job in dec 06 and he got this job while this was on his criminal background, now he cant find a job anywhere since being laid off, and they tell him its because he has misdemeanors and that as long as he had them he wouldnt be able to get a job anywhere. Whats the deal? Why is it so hard for people to aquire jobs after getting into a simple misunderstanding? Serious answers please.

Why do jobs discriminate against people with misdemeanors?
It goes with the territory. Consider a criminal background as grounds for dismissal. Once you enter the penal system and get processed, your life is forever changed.

Don't expect normal outcomes. I'm not sure if the actual offenses are revealed on a criminal background check but even if they are ~ and you have two prospects with the same qualifications and one has this criminal record...who you gonna hire??

.
Reply:It's only discrmination if you're a member of a protected class.

Having a criminal record is fun to giggle about when you're drinking with your lowlife friends, but only the very naive think that serving time is the only repercussion of being convicted.

Welcome the real world.
Reply:This is a tough question. The facts are your friend is not being discriminated against. Think about the following: there are tons of professionals each day that get charged with DWI's and DUI's. I'm almost certain because I personally know about 4-5 people that have been charged, that if its truly off your record there is absolutely no way of finding this information out. If the company that did the background check finds out that he has been in trouble with the law, than yes, he is probably having a hard time getting a job mainly because there are probably 20 other applicants with the same experience and credentials that don't have a criminal charge against them. My recommendation to your friend is to first make double sure the charges are gone, and second when asked in an interview if he has been convicted of a criminal charge to say "NO". The facts are most companies outside of fortune 500 or government jobs don't really look that deep.
Reply:Do you want me to tell you my top 10 reasons, or list all 112 of them.
Reply:This is not discrimination. It is "selective hiring." If I own or run a business and I have a choise between hiring someone with misdemeanor offences and without, you can bet I'm going with the one with a clean record.

Why should I hire someone who does not even have respect for themselves or for the law or enough self-discipline that they can't break the law? It is not that difficult to not break the law.
Reply:It is not considered discrimination because convicted people are not a protected class. If your friend thought that his record would be cleared he should contact his attorney again. He may need to apply for an expungment ( a clearing of his record...this is sometimes at the discretion of the prosecuting attorneys office) of his record. Some places won't hire people with certain crimes in their background because it can pose a threat to the people that already work their or customers. He should definately get a hold of his attorney again....

I'm 20 years old, and have recently moved to San Diego California. I've been here for almost 2 months and can't seem to find a job. I'm listed with 5 different online job searches, and have been to 2 different job agencies, as well as put out lots of applications, and I can't seem to find a job anywhere! Does anyone have any advice? Or know of any jobs I could apply for? Thank you so much!

Two jobs to choose from...and may be moving...what to do?

I got offered a job at a small company as an assistant. Two hours before I got the call, I went to a big insurance company that my brother-in-law works at and he's going to send my resume out for inside jobs. This type of job will give me great job security, great benefits and 100% tution reimbursment. I've always worked for small companys, and this a huge company, which I would sit at a cubical everyday. The other job that I got offered is for a small company with very friendly people, and I'd have my own little area. It seems like it would be a comfortable place to work. The main thing I've been stressing about is that I may or may not move to another town in about a month. I haven't quite decided if I'm going or not. The big company is only 10 mins away. The small company is about 45 mins. Which job should I take?

Two jobs to choose from...and may be moving...what to do?
no real commuting--no moving expenses= big company--------------V small company =lots of expenditure--as far as job security goes you have the same balance--abig corp.could/would slash you in a second---a small corp might not be able to compete with a big corp and be forced out--tough decision ,go with the money or the maybe lifestyle--your choice
Reply:If you feel comfortable working for a big company, like the pay, and the perks are good then I would go for that but if you like the idea of working for a smaller company and is a bit riskier to work at then you may consider that. It just depends, I would wait until you find out all the details of what each company is offering you.
Reply:Take the job that you most likely will be happy with. The job that you will most enjoy because if you don't enjoy your job, you will most likely looking for another one.
Reply:Have you already been offered the job at the big company? I think I would take the big company offer (it seems to have various advantages) UNLESS...the smallercompany is more in line with what I am interested in career wise. Alll the best!
Reply:I would chose whatever makes you happiest. My mom had the same problem, and she chose the bigger company. As a result, she had to quit because it was just too big--she even had trouble finding the parking lot because she had to switch buses a few times.

Ask yourself: What job will make me happier? You should list all the pros and cons about each job and then decide what to do.

Good luck.
Reply:Remember that with a big company, you are just a number, but if you like being anonymous then that could be a good thing. If you like money, take the big company and build your resume. Having that company name on your resume may get you elsewhere.

There is nothing wrong with small companies except for the small pay and lack of benefits. People tend to be happier and less stressed in a small company I think....
Reply:Hi, I'm a recruiter and I think you need to remember that you haven't been offered two jobs. It sounds like you've applied to the big company and been offered the small company job for real. Big companies have tons of applicants, you may never even get an interview. You can only make your choice based on what's happening right now. You have a job offer you have to decide on. Never give up a job that you would want for one that you haven't even interviewed at yet. If you want to accept the small company job, do it. If you don't like that job, move on and keep applying. That's your only choice, because you don't even know if big company is interested.
Reply:Regarding the potential move, try your best to take that out of the equation. Make decisions as if you would always be living where you live today. Make the decision on employment as if you would be taking the job and would have it for a few years. Deal with a move, IF and WHEN it comes up.

Now you only have one thing for sure the small company. Evaluate that decision independently. Would you want to work there even if you didn't have hope for working at the large company?

If an opportunity with the large company comes up in the future, you can evaluate that decision then. In every opportunity just do whats best for you at that moment in time.

Too many jobs!!!Not enough excuses?

ok i am applying for a flight attendant job and they ask that you list all the jobs you have had in the past ten years i am only 23 so that puts me in teen years altogether i have had 11 jobs i was at the longest one for a year and then to others any where from a month to 5 months normally i wouldnt run into this problem cause i just put my best jobs on my resume but now since i have to list them all i dont know what i am going to say about having some many jobs the earlier jobs were like pizza place and theme parks so i dont think that will be such a big deal but even the jobs that i have had as an adult, another thing is i havent work in about two years i was injuryed my hand but i am fine now what do i say about that,

Too many jobs!!!Not enough excuses?
Don't say anything about your hand. If they ask if you can perform the job duties say yes and that is all. It is quite common for young people to have a lot of short term jobs. Some are seasonal, some are part time after school jobs. When a youth is making $6.50 per hour and the place across the street is paying $6.75 then it is common to leave for the better pay.

Jobs that pay well, for teens in Las Vegas?

I'm sixteen, I live in las vegas, and I am looking for job. I am looking for my first job, but i'm not sure where to start. it seems like most jobs here are for people 18 and up. Working for $6.50 really isn't an option for me though, which pretty much counts out all the fast food joints, and all the grocery stores. I am very smart and generally catch on quickly. I'm hoping to find a job in an actual office setting, that pays a real salary, but that seems like to much to hope for since it is my first job.

any suggestions, or advice is appreaciated.

Jobs that pay well, for teens in Las Vegas?
I would say go to Starbucks, they make alot of tips! I know it starts off more than minimum wage, and they are always busy!

My first real job was at Vons, bagging groceries, it wasnt a bad job and I made tips from when I helped people out to their car with their groceries. When I turned 18 I transferred into their customer service department where I joined the union and made really good $$$$$

I need a 2nd job but it's so hard to find one. I'm only 20 years old and have on had 2 previous jobs...

I have been applying everywhere and I haven't gotten a call back. Is it better to apply in person at the place or is applying online just the same? I have only applied online everywhere. I am only looking for these types of jobs: Front desk receptionist for a hotel, hostess at a restaurant, or a secretary job at an office. I have no prior experience which makes it hard for me when the employers want someone with experience. But how do I even start out and get experience for later if no one will hire me in these types of jobs? My only previous jobs are working at a movie theater as a concessionist, and now I'm assistant Pre-K teacher at a school. But I need a weekday nights and weekend job.

So really, my questions are: What are the best ways to apply for a job (talk to the hiring manager myself?), how can I get the required experience for these jobs if no one will hire me for the 1st time? And if there are any other suggestions for jobs for me that would be easy to find?

Don't limit yourself. Best way to make cash fast is start your own business and mowing lawns is it. Of course, you would have to have a way to move the mower/trimmer/blower around but you can make very good money. When you apply for a job, have a resume. Go to the library and get a book on power resumes. Take one with you when you apply. Make an appointment and go in. Be sure the manager is there when you do. When you're done, do your best to hand your resume to the manager and tell him you look forward to hearing from him/her. Be dressed for the job when you go in, be very neat %26amp; clean, shine your shoes, be very polite and well mannered. Be sure your application is very neat and completely filled out. Have them tack your resume to the back. You may not have experience in that particular job, but a receptionist deals with people much like you did at the concession stand. As a teacher you are a responsible person that deal with parents as well as children. The power resume book I got taught me how to pull the strengths out of my previous jobs and apply them to the position I was trying to get. You will be amazed just how much you have to offer them when you are through. Lots of Luck.
Reply:well try being only 18 years old and havent had ANY!!
Reply:It sucks having experience too. Because then you're "overqualified" for half the jobs as well.
Reply:Try this company, I works for them and have sent a lot of good peoples there, and they love it. The pay system is excellence.

p.s. You can still keep your current job, while working part time; this could become a well paying full time job if you are a fast learner and good honest worker.
Reply:Agree with the previous poster. Have no experience you are screwed. Too much you are screwed. Eventually you will get a break like every one else does. It all depends on your detemination. Getting a second job you have to understand it is the summer months and the worst time to find work (plus our economy sucks!) Every high school and college kid who works for peanuts already scooped up the jobs. Those who are unemployed are praying for September when the job market picks up again.
