What are "The Jobs which British people won't do"?

I keep hearing about these jobs as a reason why we "need" immigrants.





I live in a fairly poor area and I know a lot of unemployed white British people who would be happy to do ANY job. But whenever they apply for a job here are always lots of other applicants and they don't get chosen.





I have seen people - well qualified people, being turned down for jobs which are actually BELOW their qualification levels - in fact I'm one of them! My boyfriend - a trained mechanic who can't get work as a mechanic as there are not enough jobs - even got turned down for a car valeting job because the interviewer just liked someone else more or decided they were more suitable. I have no idea. It was through no fault of his own!





So I really don't beleive these "jobs noone else wants" exist and they are just a figment of the Left's imagination to justify the rampant immigration. As far as I know the only time we had this sort of full employment was back in the 1950s.

What are "The Jobs which British people won't do"?
If that really is a question being asked, that's really funny because that's the same crap being tried over here in the US.

In response to your comments about the unemployment problem since the 1950s - more jobs were available during the 1950s, as machinery, including computers, was not so widely available. However, when machines were made to do jobs that humans could, they replaced people with machinery since they were more economical! As a result, more people could not gain a job since machines, including computers, were used an alternative.





"Jobs that no-one else wants"...? Well, that's down to personal opinion, rather than choice. It depends on the person's background, opinions, wants/needs, experience(s) and qualifications.

The plumbing industry is paid extremely well and there are many plumbers. Also i dont know how the rumour was created about brits not bathing but thats b*ll too.





With regards to the question, there arent any jobs we wont do provided we get fair pay.
Reply:Ladymoonlight, the last time I checked it was Eastern Europeans- mainly Poles - taking a lot of the jobs the English 'might' have taken! Are you insinuating that Eastern Europeans are 'not white' and only 'white' English people are 'white'?





I agree that their is too much immigration here but there are also far too many English-born and able-bodied people of different ethnic backgrounds who spend too much time scrounging off of the benefits system who should be made to work!


Benefits should ONLY be for people who are very young, elderly, mentally or physically disabled or those who have been laid off through no fault of their own and need assistance in getting re-employed, especially in areas of limited employment. Benefits should also ONLY be for people who have been working continuously here for a year or more - not for people 'just off the boat.'
Reply:I totally agree. I believe there is a core of employers who use the CBI, the Confederation of British Industry, as a mouthpiece to bleat out this tired rationalisation.





This is all the excuse they need to justify the employers hiring virtual slave labour from abroad and treating them like beasts of burden.





It's not fair on us Brits - but trust me on this, it's even less fair on the immigrants, who are forced to live in the sort of living conditions that you wouldn't see dogs living in.





Of course we Brits wouldn't take on such jobs. We'd probably be a hell of a lot more savvy, and demand (a) the minimum wage at least; (b) working conditions that have a greater survival rate than 25%.





Otherwise, were it not for these gangmasters using the CBI like this, I don't believe there'd be anything we wouldn't touch.

Reply:Jobs _______ (insert majority) people won't do are typically low skill, labor intensive jobs that SHOULD be paid high for the work being done, but that non-majority people, out of necessity, tend to do for a lot less money. It isn't that the majority WON'T do the jobs, its that the wealthy, who own the means of production would rather have you believe so that you believe society would collapse without the work of immigrants, when in reality it would just be their pocketbooks, having to pay a fair market value for the services provided.





And on that note, its neither a left nor right issue. In the United States, particularly California, it is the conservative Republican party that favors immigration for these reasons.
Reply:It is a fabrication by the government machine to justify bringing immigrants into the country, not for charity, but for cheap labour.


Incidentally, the Tory government in the mid fifties carried out the same policy and used the same excuse.


The jobs no one applies for are usually in the service industry which has always been notorious for low pay and poor conditions.


One way to combat this policy is to spread the word to the immigrant workers that they are being exploited and also boycott any business that you find paying poverty wages.


There are thousands of post graduates and highly qualified people who are either unemployed or working for the minimum wage, but just peruse the company profits!

I am thirty eight years old, I worked my way through college working at a food factory; good job, paid 12 US dollars per hour, this was 20 years ago.. That same plant now pays 8 dollars and hire illegal aliens.





I was sitting with my landlord and handyman on day (we are all Americans). It had just so happened that we had all worked in the food processing business and had all worked at the same factory but at different times. The job I have now brings me into that factory, it is difficult to find anyone there who speaks English. We had all worked there but these suddenly are jobs Americans will not do.

Reply:I work in a hospital and by far the majority of cleaners are black and/or foreign (mainly Polish or African). This also applies to most of the catering staff. Its no coincidence that these jobs are poorly paid.

British people are not the only ones who won't do this work, you can include lots of other white races. The anglo saxon is not built to do the work, how long do you think a TALL white British, german or swedes BACK would last bending over and lifting crates full of produce?? Britain and many other European nations diet was never based on agriculture in the past, hence the beef consumption. Why should these nations start now? You say these jobs don't exist well how do you think produce gets on your grocery shelves? If your boyfriend would like a real back breaking job he's more then welcome to come to the states and pick agriculture, the only Americans who tried this work were the Oakies during the depression era, and they didn't last long.
Reply:They probably didn´t want to employ your boyfriend because they feared that he wouldnt stay because you wóuld become bored and seek something more suited to his talents. And, generally, managers dislike having subordinates who are brighter or more intelligent then they are.





When I was unemployed some years ago, I was struck by how poorly paid a lot of jobs, especially in services, were. It is these jobs and jobs as Care Workers and cleaners, as well as basic agrucultural work, that are being referred to.

Reply:As someone said before... Fruit and vegetable pciking. I worked for waitrose acouple of weeks a go for a supplier of the fruit and veg and I only lasted 2 days.
