Jobs for 14 year old?

This summer i am going to be very very boerd. So my mom is saying i should get a job, but are 14 yr olds allowed to have summer jobs. do i need to get a job permission from my school or court or somthing, and where could i get jobs in san jose. and would there be jobs availble. i am a very smart studet with a 4.0 GPA ever since i was born lol suggesitons?

Child Labor Laws -14 and 15 Years of Age:


During the school year, hours are limited to 3 hours a day and 18 hours a week. On days when there's no school and in the summer, working hours increase to 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week. There are limits on when children can work, too - no later than 7 p.m. during the school year and no later than 9 p.m. between June 1 and Labor Day. Fourteen- and 15- year-olds may be employed in restaurants and quick-service establishments outside school hours in a variety of jobs for limited periods of time and under specified conditions.





My advice: You need to check with you local school and state in regards to "working papers" - even for summer work they are sometimes required! Your school counselor will be able to help you.

Reply:What I did when I was 14, is get working papers from the school. Have you considered working as a CIT at a camp?
Reply:you can definately get a work permit and find a job. Usually places that hire teens under 16 are fast food places. You could try and get in with a local golf course working in the pro shop; or better yet a driving range. That way you are pretty much outside all day.
